The Process

From the initial consultation right through to the final contract handover, our team will guide you through each stage of your project with professionalism and efficiency.

  • Initial Meeting

    After your intial enquiry the first step is to arrange a free no-obligation meeting at your convenience to discuss the project. You can share with us your ideas, requirements and any other information and we’ll advise you on the processes required to get your project underway. Unfortunately we can’t provide a quotation at the initial meeting due to unknowns.

  • Feasibility

    At the feasibilty stage it may be possible to give you an indicative itemised budget cost for the proposed works. We’ll also explain the feasibility of the project in terms of Planning and Building Regulation. We will also give you an overview of the project process and the timescales involved to help you plan ahead.

  • Design & Planning

    The design & planning stage follows a succesful feasibitly study where the details and basic design have been agreed. We prepare and handle all the necessary documentation and drawings required for the project and submit any required planning consent applications on your behalf. We can also start to discuss the fine details of your project requirements at this stage including the fixtures and fittings.

  • Contracts

    Once the specification has been finalised down to the last light fitting and power socket, the price will be fixed and agreed upon. A FMB approved plain English Contract will be signed by both parties.

    The contract will state the following;

    • Accurate Time Frame
    • Work Commencement
    • Insurance-backed Warranty Details (If Necessary)
    • Payment Terms
    • Day Work Rates (If Required)

  • Payment Structure

    The payment structure obviously depends on the size and scale of each project. Stonewood Construction are paid every two weeks and the payments run alongside a work progress schedule drawn up to keep you up to date with progression on site. Most clients pay the installments by bank transfers (BACS).

    There are always variations to budgets, the extent depends as much on the clients as the type of project. Most variations are due to clients changing their minds or adding additional works after the project has started.

  • Construction

    Whilst construction of the project is underway we strive to make the process as efficient and stress free as possible, at Stonewood we believe clear communication with our clients is key.

    • We will brief you on progress at regular intervals.
    • Unavoidable problems or delays will be communicated as soon as possible.
    • If there are changes to the work specified or extra costs, these will be confirmed in writing and agreed before work begins.

    Stonewood Construction and our employees will at all times treat you and your property with respect and ensure that the working site remains a safe and healthy environment.

  • Completion

    On completion of the work;

    • We will leave the site clean, tidy and ready for use.
    • Any relevant documentation such as instructions and guarantees will be handed over and we’ll brief you about relevant maintenance or operating issues.
    • A date will be arranged for us to return and complete any defects which may have arisen during the first few months.

      • Stonewood Construction offer a defects liability period of 6 months after practical completion.
